Psychedelic

This series evolved out of my “Wabi Sabi Lounge” installation at the Smalter Gallery here in KC in 2023.

I had started to add lighting effects to my assemblages, and it just kind got out of hand. I find the pulsating lights soothing.

I exhibited a bunch of these pieces at The Bunker Center for the Arts in a show called “More is More” which juxtaposed three solo shows: me, Justin Canja & Phil Dunn. Some of these artworks are part of “The Champagne Room” which premiered at the Vulpes Bastille Gallery in October, 2025.

I also think this psychedelic series is an appropriate response to these surreal, Orwellian times. Up is down and wrong is right and time marches on in the Bizzaro World. A firehose of misinformation is jamming up the doors to perception, and it’s becoming hard to separate the real from the artificial from the hyperreal.

Oh dear.
