Art by Jack DeVore –
the Founder of
“Elastic Symbolism.”
(1932-2010)
I met Jack in Marcola, Oregon in 1983. He was a master assemblage artist, often working on a small scale.
His work is very economical with tight craftsmanship and funny titles. He coined the term “Elastic Symbolism” to describe this work because, you know, we all need our own “ism.”
We became fast friends for decades and he was my sculpture mentor.
We staged ArtCar shows in his small Oregon town for years. I miss him. Please, don’t forget to remember Elastic Symbolism!
