Memento Mori

The translation from Latin is “remember you must die.” The message, however, is “Carpe Diem.”

My sculptures are full of skulls and taxidermy, but they’re friendly. Except for the fish, they are as relentless as time, jumping out of the River Styx.

This is a deeply personal series for me. I’ve been showing my artwork for almost 40 years. I don’t feel old, but I can measure the years by how many friends I’ve lost. My reach extends far back. I witnessed the crises of the 60’s & 70’s, from Vietnam to Soviet Nuclear threats. WW II and the Great Depression molded my parents. My Grandparents were born in the 1890s.

Time IS after us. Trouble IS coming. Twas ever thus. But there is still room for us to make our way in what’s left of the world. There’s a seat at the Bad Habits Bar in the “Champagne Room,” reserved just for you.
