Bad Habits Bar

A curator requested my “Purple Haze” shrine for a weed-themed group exhibition, and pointed out that I was creating a distinct group of work about various vices (e.g. red wine, mezcal, A.I., womanizing, abstinence, etc . . . ).
I liked the idea and continued creating “Shrines for Bad Habits” in earnest. It feels like making trophies for popular forms of misconduct.
This isn’t advocacy or disapproval, it’s commentary - is it just a coincidence that so many toys and tchotchkes exhibit hedonistic, reckless, behavior? Are we portrayed in these artworks?
As Jack Kerouac said, “I better wash my conduct!”
A bar dedicated to this theme seemed like a natural, and perfect for the “Champagne Room,” my psychedelic tavern on the banks of the River Styx.
