Dreamscapes
Some would say that a lot of my sculptures could be called “Dreamscapes” or Shrines” but not all my pieces enter my dreams. The ones on this page have.
These “Dreamscapes” start off like all my work: intuitively & formally. I don’t start with a design in mind, but rather I riff off the discovered objects I collect. Juxtapositions start based on size, color, and the intention or gaze of the toy or figure.
Then things slide into the deep end of the pool. I’m more spectator than activator of the process. At night I dream about these compositions.
The characters talk to me, warning me about chaos and time closing in.
The dreaming started after meditating regularly. David Lynch thinks that’s no accident: “I think ideas are out there and you catch them like how you catch fish. The more consciousness you have, the deeper you can catch those ideas.”
