The trickiest aspect of ArtCar creation for me is to integrate all the components so that the piece seems like a whole – more than the sum of its parts.  This is what really takes a while.  A lot of the heavy lifting is complete, i.e. the base layers and the biggest elements are now attached.

It’s tricky because I’m combining this new, curvy, aerodynamic shape with a bunch of mid-20th century artifacts.  The goal is to have the viewers eye initially see the ArtCar as one thing, and I’m not exactly sure how it’s going to work. Right now I’m adding more metal vines and antlers and diamond-shaped metal to start connecting the front to the sides.  Ultimately I’m going to have to deal with these very contemporary headlight shapes, and do so without compromising safety.
